  • Overview

    The position is for undergraduate students to actively contribute to the work of the Operations Team. The Group consists of Oxford Diagnostic Laboratory and Production.   Depending on business critical projects the position could be based in just one team or alternatively alternate between the two departments.


    Overall responsibilities:


    1. Working closely with one of the teams for a specified time, the Student will be assist Production Scientists, ODL Scientists and QA/QC Scientists on experiments and products that are designed and conducted in line with overall product development strategy within Oxford Immunotec.

    Primary Responsibilities

    1. With direction from their supervisor, taking responsibility for operations and procedures in either ODL or Production.
    2. For ODL this work will involve preparing and conducting the T-SPOT TB assay on customer samples and operate routine testing in accordance with the Quality Management System, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003, and ISO 17025:2005, is adhered to at all times and in all aspects of the job
    3. Within the Production team assist with the manufacture of components and products according to GMP and the Quality Management System.
    4. Assist with stock control and complete documentation and manufacturing batch records.
    5. Ensuring that work is completed to agreed timelines.
    6. Ensuring that any likely delays or issues with a given project are communicated to their supervisor in a timely manner.
    7. With significant input from their supervisor, prioritising workload to ensure key objectives agreed with supervisor are met on time.
    8. Performing duties in other departments, on an occasional basis to meet critical Company objectives as required.
    9. Ensuring that projects are carried out in accordance with the Company Quality System and to the required Regulatory standards.
    10. Ensuring that conclusions in reports written reflect the data presented and reports are of the highest quality.
    11. Working to Oxford Immunotec’s Company Values at all times.


    Desirable Technical skills and abilities

    • An understanding of the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries
    • Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO systems.Essential Technical skills and abilities
    • Knowledge of Windows and Office bases applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Studying for a relevant life sciences degree
